Introduction

image of a white and black film strip in a circular shapeWelcome to the Film Collections Guide focusing on subjects and disciplines. This guide's purpose is to assist with finding films available via streaming services available through University Libraries.

University Libraries has access to thousands of films, from documentaries to features, live performances to newsreels, providing access to award-winning films, canonical film studies titles, and independent films, all from a variety of highly regarded distributors.

Both AVON and FILMS ON DEMAND FOD have aggregated content from a huge variety of sources. Content includes smaller distributors, private distributors, educational films for all disciplines, how to films, a variety of news programs, and more.

Swank, Kanopy and Docuseek are more focused on high-quality content only.  University Libraries does not license all of Kanopy, SWANK or Docuseek, we license the films for a set period of time, anywhere from 1-3 years, as well as life of file when available.

Films in this guide are organized by academic subject/discipline, and all our available streaming services providers  are presented on the Streaming Services Page on this guide.

This guide is to help you find film titles; for further information on our streaming services, see the Film & Media Resources Guide.
