Getting Started with Adobe Premiere Pro

If you’re new to Premiere Pro, this tutorial will guide you through the very first steps of starting a video-editing project.

Step 6: Save Frequently & Back Up

  1. Press Ctrl + S (Windows) / Cmd + S (Mac) to save your project often.
  2. Set up Auto-Save: Settings → Auto Save and enable “Automatically save every _ minutes”. This protects you from unexpected crashes.
  3. Make a separate backup: copy your entire project folder to an external drive or cloud storage.
  4. As you go, keep good naming conventions (e.g., MyFirstEdit_v1, MyFirstEdit_v2) and preserve original media.

Good file management now saves you headaches later.
