How Do I Find Films on DVD in the Library

Alden Library has a large collection of films on DVD available for check out at the 4th floor Service Desk.  The best way to find videos/film/movies/cinema/feature films - is to use the ALICE catalog.

In addition to feature films, there are thousands of non-fiction videos on all fields of study. Ask for your video at the 4th Floor Service Desk of Alden Library or at the Music and Dance Library on the 5th floor of Glidden Hall (the Music Building).

Not sure what you're in the mood for...? Take a look at the FILM COLLECTIONS tab for some ideas to get you started.

BROWSING ALICE FOR VIDEOS

  • ALICE, SEARCH BY VIDEO TITLE
  • ALICE, WORD SEARCH, if you are browsing
  • ALICE, ADVANCED SEARCH (limits to videos, in Alden Library)

beyond ALICE - borrowing from other libraries

Finding books in the library - start with ALICE catalog, if we don't own it or our copy is checked out, go to OhioLINK, a consortium of libraries in the state of Ohio that share online catalogs (OPACs), databases and a few other resources.

If you cannot locate a FILM in ALICE catalog or OhioLINK catalog, try Worldcat, an even bigger online catalog that contains holdings for libraries all over the world.  You may request items from Interlibrary Loan, or ask your subject librarian to order the FILM for our collection.
