Subject Headings are assigned by cataloging librarians and archivists to help researchers find materials related to their interests. Searching by subject heading can help you find books on very specific topics.
For example, when looking for criticism on an author or one of their works, you can search for that author in the SUBJECT field. This will show results that reflect books on the SUBJECT of that author, instead of books written by that author themself.
You can also click on the subject heading links in an item's record page to explore other items with that subject.
