PRISMA, HAPI and World Scholar

Apart from ArticlesPlus, there are a few other databases of special relevance to Spanish language and Latin American studies:

  • PRISMA is an excellent source for finding articles on Latin American Studies. PRISMA covers full-text scholarly journals in the social sciences and humanities in Spanish, Portuguese, and English.
  • HAPI (Hispanic American Periodical Index) is another source well worth searching. It contains journal article citations about Central America, South America, the Caribbean, Mexico, Brazil, and Hispanics/Latinos in the United States.
  • World Scholar: Latin America and the Caribbean provides full text, searchable access to a digital collection of primary (and secondary) source documents about Latin America and the Caribbean. The scope ranges from the colonial period to the present and includes monographs, manuscripts, pamphlets, letters, expedition records, journals, periodicals, reports, maps, diaries, descriptions of voyages, and newspaper accounts.
  • Fuente Academica is the Spanish language equivalent of Academic Search Complete.
  • MLA International Bibliography is another important source for secondary sources on Spanish language and literature.
  • Linguistics and Language Behavior Abstracts is yet another possible source for secondary sources on language learning.
