Research Help

Your library experts are here to help answer questions from "how do you spell 'axolotl'?" to "how does social media affect mental health?" and more. Help is available in the Lancaster Campus Library any time the library is open. Just stop by the help desk on the lower level and ask. You can also schedule a one-on-one appointment with Judy Carey Nevin for personalized research help by emailing careynev@ohio.edu, calling 740-681-3351, or messaging via Teams.

Live after-hours help is available via chat (with a human in Athens). Use the chat window on the 'Get Help' page of the University Libraries website for late-night assistance.

Course Reserves

When your instructor tells you there is material for your course on reserve this means they have asked the library to have things like textbooks or other material available for you to use. To check out something on course reserve visit the Hannah V. McCauley Library and ask for your material at the help desk. Most reserve material can’t leave the library but can be borrowed for 2-3 hours.

Additional items available for limited checkout at the help desk:

calculators, scientific and graphing

phone battery chargers, with lightning, USB to micro, USB to C, C to C connector cables

whiteboard markers

plug-in headphones that work with the library PCs

colored pencils
