Mission

Founded in 1985 by Hannah V. McCauley, the first library director of the library on the Lancaster Campus, the Friends of the Hannah V. McCauley Library at Ohio University Lancaster provides support to the Lancaster Campus library for initiatives that strengthen the library, including but not limited to enhancing collections, community engagement, promotion, and student support.

 

Benefits of Membership

  • FRIENDS have access to the full range of collections and services at the Hannah V. McCauley Library.
  • FRIENDS may request items from over 125 academic and public libraries in Ohio and have everything delivered to the Hannah V. McCauley Library for pickup.
  • FRIENDS are invited to conversations with featured guest speakers hosted by the Friends of the Hannah V. McCauley Library.
  • FRIENDS vote to approve purchasing materials for the library for faculty, student, and community use.
  • FRIENDS membership contributions are tax deductible.

Activities

Some FRIENDS projects funded by donations include:

  • Purchasing scholastic material requested by faculty
  • Hosting informative programs twice a year that increase opportunities for cultural enrichment on campus; these programs are open to the public
  • Supporting students with scholarships
